The Hilton Hotel Supports HFK Basket Weavers

The women in our two Basket Weavers’ Cooperatives have been hard at work fulfilling some large orders! One recently went to the Hilton Hotel, a very old, beautiful hotel in Addis Ababa with a rich history.

The women were invited by the manager’s wife for a luncheon and tour because they wanted the women to see how they were using the baskets they had ordered. The hotel management went above and beyond to make the women feel special.

They provided us with a wonderful meal and coffee ceremony served out in the garden, followed by a tour of the grounds and the hotel. A highlight for the women was the opportunity to go up to the penthouse where they could see a panoramic view of Addis and take in the vastness of the country’s capital city. The day ended in the gardens where a photographer took some professional photos of the women holding some of their baskets.

We want to extend a huge thank you to the Hilton Hotel for such an amazing day! Our women were so blessed by it—to see their art and hard work on display in such a beautiful setting was so empowering.

Baskets In Action

There are so many creative ways the beautiful baskets our women make can be used! The Hilton Hotel in Addis Ababa uses them at their security gates to hold the personal items of people coming into the hotel.
