Enat's Family

Enat and her husband are in dire circumstances, with limited income to support their two daughters.

After losing her parents at a young age, Enat left the countryside and came to Addis with her aunt, to live with their family and work in the restaurant they owned. However, Enat was not welcomed by her uncle and soon had to leave to escape his harassment. For some time, she worked as a maid, and then left to find a better job in another country. When she returned, she discovered the person she had trusted with her earnings had taken advantage of her, leaving her with nothing. Following this betrayal, Enat became unwell and often suffered from fainting spells. For some time, getting married and starting a family gave Enat hope and together she and her husband have worked hard to raise their daughters.

Recently Enat’s husband has become critically ill. He has been a supportive husband and father, and is very worried about his family’s future as they have no one to fall back on. Due to a lifetime of hard physical labour Enat suffers from back pain, which, along with limited education, makes it very difficult for her to provide for the family.

Monthly sponsorship will provide Enat’s family with holistic support such as food, housing, medical care, spiritual care, counselling, education, health and life skills training, income generation and business development opportunities. Being part of HFK’s Family Empowerment Program will also give this family an opportunity to participate in many of our youth, education, and community programs.
