Mulu is a financially vulnerable mother of an infant, struggling to survive after being abandoned by her boyfriend.
Mulu was raised by her sister during her childhood. When she dropped out of school, she searched for her mother and began living with her mother’s new blended family. Their living conditions were desperate, and eventually her mother’s husband asked all the kids to move out as they simply could not sustain a family that size from scavenging at the dump. Mulu then entered a long-term relationship, however her boyfriend abandoned her when he found out she was pregnant. He was unwilling to take on the role of a father because his tribe’s custom is highly against having children outside of marriage. Mulu was left devastated and financially vulnerable. She worked as far into her pregnancy as she could, and since that time has been relying on support from her landlord to cover her expenses. Mulu has an expressive personality, and several skills from her work experience. With support and childcare, she is motivated to change her life.
Monthly sponsorship will provide Mulu’s family with holistic support such as food, housing, medical care, spiritual care, counselling, education, health and life skills training, income generation and business development opportunities.
