Tangut's Family

Tangut recently gave birth to triplets, and now she and her husband are raising seven children.

Tangut has been married to her husband Hayilu for five years. Among their seven children are three daughters from Hayilu's first marriage, as well as a son and two month old triplets. Tangut does not have any business experience but has washed clothes to try to earn some income. Her husband works as a daily laborer. When Tangut was recently hospitalized during and after the birth of her triplets, the family incurred some significant costs for her medical care. Unable to afford rent, they were forced to move and are now temporarily staying with relatives. The one room is too small for them all, so the family was forced to split and the older children are staying with Tangut's aunt. The family is currently feeling the pressure of financially providing for their many children and finding a large enough home to be together. In addition, Tangut has not been able to produce sufficient breast milk so she has had to supplement the babies with cow's milk.

Through sponsorship Tangut's family will be able to receive holistic support such as such as food, housing, medical care, spiritual care and counselling, education, health and life skills training, income generation and business development opportunities. Being part of HFK’s Family Empowerment Program will also give this family an opportunity to participate in many of our youth, education, and community programs.
