A big part of our work at HFK involves visiting families and the places that they work.
On one memorable day, our director, Eve, joined one of our dedicated social workers, Shemsel, for a visit to a new roadside shoe business. Midway through their visit, the skies suddenly opened, and they were caught in a torrential downpour.
They dashed into a bajaj (a small 3-wheeled taxi) to escape the rain. But just minutes into the ride, the little engine gave out—completely flooded—and the driver asked them to get out in the middle of the busy road!
Eve ran for cover to the side of the road, only to turn around to see Shemsel, drenched from head to toe, helping push the broken-down bajaj to safety.
It makes for a great story (and a pretty fun video!)—but it also shows just how essential safe, reliable transportation is. For our staff, it means fewer soaked shoes and stalled engines—and for the people of Korah, it means more care, more connection, and more hope on the move.
