We loved seeing 72 beautiful women come together to celebrate International Women’s Day!
HFK hosted a special event honoring the remarkable women in our program. The day was full of laughter, reflection, and celebration. Participants shared a delicious meal, played a thoughtful game highlighting the achievements and leadership of famous Ethiopian women, which encouraged everyone to reflect on their own journeys and successes. Uplifting speakers and a Bible teaching added moments of inspiration, while special recognition highlighted the leaders from our self-help groups, women who had grown their savings, audited their accounts, and organized home-to-home gatherings to strengthen their communities.
One of the most meaningful moments came during an experience-sharing session. A respected mother from the Korah community shared how she started a small business with just 3 ETB while raising her three children alone. Through perseverance and hard work, she built her business, opened her own shop, and eventually purchased a truck. Her story left a deep impression, inspiring the other mothers to dream big for themselves and their families.
Overall, it was a joyful day, honoring hardworking, empowered women—true changemakers in their families and communities.
