Melkam Addis Ahmet!

Wishing all of our Ethiopian families and friends a Happy Ethiopian New Year filled with new beginnings, new hope and many new blessings.  Thinking of you all as you celebrate and wishing we could be there!

The Ethiopian calendar is seven years behind the Gregorian calendar and the Ethiopian New Year is one of the most celebrated holidays in the country.  Every September, this special holiday marks the end of the rainy season and the start of a new year.

On the New Year, all of us at the HFK office in Canada, had so much fun celebrating the Ethiopian New Year with a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony. We look forward to 2013 (Ethiopian calendar) and we pray that this will be a year filled with peace and hope for all.
