New Playground - Let the Fun Begin!

We are happy to share the exciting news that Hope for Korah has completed the construction of a new playground at Kolfe Keraniyo Sub-City!

This special space will serve over 170 children from two local daycare centers—both government-run and community-based—providing them with a safe, joyful place to play, explore, and thrive. With colorful slides, swings, and tunnels, soft artificial turf, and a secure safety fence, a fun little playground has been created.  One of the most special features is a beautiful mural painted by a local artist that includes a landscape filled with beloved Ethiopian animals.

This project was born from our deep desire to partner with the community and build meaningful, lasting relationships. In a community like Korah, children grow up without the benefit of parks or backyards to play in.  Korah has very few open, secure spaces for children, making this playground even more special.  Play is essential for healthy child development, emotional well-being, and the freedom to simply be a kid. This playground offers just that—a place for children living in poverty to laugh, play, and grow.

We celebrated the playground’s completion with a special dedication ceremony on April 9th, joined by local government officials. One of the most heartwarming moments was watching the children eagerly line up to enter, their eyes wide with excitement and wonder. It was a beautiful reminder of the simple joys that can have a profound impact.

At Hope for Korah, we remain deeply committed to meeting the needs of the community and walking alongside families with compassion and care. We are truly grateful to have been part of this meaningful project, and we look forward to many more opportunities to build relationships and create lasting impact in the lives of children and their families.
