Two weeks ago, we had the privilege of welcoming 70 students and staff from the International Community School of Addis Ababa (ICS) who came to learn and serve with HFK.
The ICS team was eager, well-prepared, and incredibly helpful throughout their 2-day visit.
The students divided into smaller groups and spent time visiting and serving in several of our programs. At the Berta compound, they tried making Berta pancakes and worked hard giving the feeding centre a fresh coat of paint. They also visited the daycare, where they played with the children and helped with cleaning projects. Another group spent time with our basket weavers, visiting, listening to their stories, and even trying to weave their own baskets.
During a meaningful reflection time at the end of the day, one student shared, “Today we received much more than we gave.” It was a wonderful reminder of the joy found in serving.
Thank you, ICS, for your enthusiasm, kindness, and willingness to serve. It was a joy to have you with us.
