Staff Spotlight: Our Berta Cooks

Meet Nigist and Bostesh, our faithful cooks who lovingly prepare daily breakfast for the children in our Berta Feeding Program.

When we asked them about their experience working with Hope for Korah, they said:

“We are so proud of working in Hope for Korah. We are so surprised when children come in the morning to eat breakfast by trusting HFK and the baker women. We are so happy seeing them, that they eat bread and drink milk or tea early in the morning during breakfast time. It is a great privilege to serve future generation. We know that our work is hard, but when we think of the poor children and their parents, we get energy to insist in our work.” They continue, “If our kind sponsors invest their money for our children, we should do our best. We love children, we love our work.”

— And we love seeing the dedication and passion our staff bring to this work, it truly shows. We are so grateful for Nigist and Bostesh, who rise in the wee hours of the morning—often 4 a.m.—to have hundreds of pancakes hot and ready to serve our children.
