"Now we are out of poverty!" - A Visit with Birhane

You may have read Birhane’s story in our Summer News, but now you can watch the beautiful moment she unexpectedly walked into the Hope for Korah office and shared the words that capture the heart of our mission: “Now we are out of poverty!”

As we mark the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on October 17, Birhane’s story is a powerful reminder of the importance of what we do.

When we first met Birhane, she was a single mother of three boys, struggling to survive and often begging so she could feed her children.  Through HFK’s Family Empowerment Program, Birhane received the support, training, and opportunities she needed to build a new future for her family. Today, Birhane has purchased an apartment, her sons have stable jobs, and her granddaughter is attending private school. This is a future she once could hardly have imagined for her family!

At Hope for Korah, our vision is to break the cycle of extreme poverty, helping families build a brighter future not only for themselves, but for generations to come.

Watch this special moment and celebrate with us as we witness the lasting impact of God’s goodness and the hope of a new future!
