Opening Doors Through Literacy

Literacy brings hope.

Literacy is one of the foundational pillars of our Family Empowerment Program. When many women first enter the program, they are unable to read or write. Some have never had the opportunity to attend school and some are unable to sign their names and need to use a thumbprint to sign documents.

HFK provides beginner-level literacy classes, sponsor women to attend evening school, and support them as they continue their education through distance learning and evening classes. Joy is seeing women learn to sign their names for the very first time!

These opportunities bring more than education. They bring dignity. They bring confidence. They bring empowerment. And they bring hope.
