Eman's Family

With no reliable income and two young children, Eman has been forced to beg on the streets to feed her family.

Eman previously worked for six years as a daycare caregiver and kindergarten teacher’s assistant and completed training in childcare. After the birth of her second child, she resigned from her job as caring for her young children became too difficult to manage. Without a stable income, the family’s financial situation became increasingly desperate. They often go without meals, and the food Eman receives while begging has sometimes made her young son sick.

Eman carries much of the responsibility for providing for her children and hopes to return to work using her childcare skills to create a more stable future for her family. She has tried other ways to earn an income, including selling maize door to door, but these efforts were not enough to meet the family’s needs. The family currently lives in a single-room home built from wood and mud, with very limited means to improve their circumstances.

Monthly sponsorship will provide Eman’s family with holistic support such as food, housing, medical care, spiritual care, counselling, education, health and life skills training, income generation and business development opportunities. Being part of HFK’s Family Empowerment Program will also give this family an opportunity to participate in many of our youth, daycare, education, and community programs.

Current Need per Month $300:  Sponsor $300 per mo. | $150 per mo. | $75 per mo.
