We were deeply honored to host H.E. Mr. Stian Christensen, the Norwegian Ambassador, alongside his successor and a delegation of 15 colleagues from the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Addis Ababa.

Their visit offered a meaningful opportunity to witness firsthand the on-the-ground transformation made possible through projects supported by the Diplomatic Spouse Group (DSG). The Norwegian Embassy has been a cornerstone supporter of this work, and seeing the collective impact of this partnership come to life was both inspiring and deeply encouraging.

Sustained Impact Across Three Critical Pillars of Our Vision

Through three rounds of funding, this partnership has helped address core community needs while fostering resilience, economic independence, and emotional well-being:

Round 1 | Nurturing the Future

Equipping the Hope for Korah (HFK) Daycare, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for the youngest members of our community while enabling mothers to work and participate in training and income-generating opportunities.

Round 2 | Economic Empowerment

Expanding the Basket Weaving Cooperative, an initiative that not only preserves a beautiful traditional craft but also provides sustainable livelihoods for women in our community.

Round 3 | Mental Health and Leadership (Ongoing)

Launching a vital Mental Health Care Support Program focused on trauma healing sessions and professional coaching for emerging young leaders within HFK.

The Power of Trust-Based Philanthropy

What makes the DSG small grants approach so impactful is its openness. Rather than requiring grassroots organizations to fit within rigid, pre-existing frameworks, this model empowers partners to identify and respond to real needs on the ground. It is a trust-based approach that allows locally driven solutions to take root where they are needed most.

Beyond Funding: Building Market Bridges

Our gratitude extends far beyond financial support. Through the dedicated efforts of the DSG, the Hope for Korah Basket Weaving Cooperative has gained valuable market linkages. By connecting our artisans directly with buyers within the Addis Ababa diplomatic community, this partnership has created meaningful visibility and opened doors to long-term sustainability and economic independence.

Our Heartfelt Appreciation

On behalf of the entire Hope for Korah team, including our artisans, youth, and families, we extend our sincere thanks to the Royal Norwegian Embassy and the Diplomatic Spouse Group in Addis Ababa.

Your encouragement, thoughtful engagement, and continued belief in our vision strengthen our commitment to community-led transformation.
