A father and son are helping make much-needed dental care more accessible to vulnerable children and families in Korah, Ethiopia.
100 km for the Hope for Korah Dental Program
On September 20, 2026, Marco and Daniel Magalhaes will take on a special challenge: riding 100 kilometres together to raise funds for the Hope for Korah Dental Program. The program will help expand access to dental care for children and families living in Korah, a community facing deep poverty and limited access to healthcare, located near the city's garbage dump in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
For Daniel, this will be his first-ever 100 km ride. For both of us, it is an opportunity to turn something we love doing together into something that can make a difference in the lives of others.
About Hope for Korah
Hope for Korah is a Canadian charitable organization working alongside the community of Korah in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Its mission is to help vulnerable children and families break the cycle of extreme poverty through a holistic approach that includes healthcare, nutrition, education, family support, and opportunities for economic independence.
Why Dental Care?
In 2025, Dr. Marco Magalhaes, a professor at the University of Toronto, travelled to Ethiopia as part of a University of Toronto partnership with Addis Ababa University.
During the visit, Marco worked with Hope for Korah and saw firsthand the oral health challenges faced by families in the community and the enormous difference that access to basic dental treatment, prevention and education could make. That experience led to the development of an initiative to strengthen dental care for the Korah community.
Now we want to help that program grow.
About Us
We are father and son who share a love of cycling and a commitment to giving back. Over the years, we have participated in fundraising efforts supporting several causes, particularly initiatives related to brain health and epilepsy.
This year, our bikes are taking us somewhere new.
Daniel will be attempting his first 100 km ride. Every kilometre of this ride represents our commitment to helping make dental care more accessible to children and families in Korah.
The funds raised will support the Hope for Korah Dental Program, helping expand access to oral healthcare, prevention and education for families who need it most.

Together, we will ride 100 kilometers on September 20th.
We hope you will join us by supporting the ride. Help us turn 100 kilometres into 100 healthier smiles.
