Youth Outing to Unity Park, Addis Ababa

Saturday was a day to remember! Three of our HFK staff accompanied fifteen of our young people on a day trip to the newly constructed Unity Park in Addis Ababa. 

The main focus of this outing was to connect and spend quality time with each of these orphaned children who are living in unique family groups in our HFK supported homes.

Unity Park is a sprawling green oasis with captivating architectural marvels and historical educational exhibits. Prior to departing for the field trip, everyone was excited and cheerfully expressing their anticipation for the day's adventure. From the minute they all entered the park the fun began! Immediately, each person started exploring and admiring the unique features of the park.

A definite highlight was seeing all of the smiles on everyone's faces as they playfully posed for pictures. Throughout the day our staff experienced great joy as they witnessed the sheer excitement of the group. At lunchtime everyone gathered for a delicious buffet. Each plate was stacked high with an assortment of savory Ethiopian dishes. This was certainly a day that everyone will cherish for a lifetime.

All of these young people have experienced great loss and have been left orphaned which has brought many challenges, but Saturday was a day devoted to experiencing joy, adventure and a newfound sense of togetherness.
