Meseret's Family

Meseret has faced years of uncertainty after her husband’s accident changed their family’s future.

Married for 18 years, Meseret has one teenage son. Nine years ago, her husband was seriously injured in a car accident while traveling for work. Although he has regained some mobility, he continues to face challenges finding employment that fits his physical condition. Since the accident, Meseret has carried much of the responsibility of supporting their family.

The family lives in a small one-room home near the garbage dump, in an area at risk of demolition. With the possibility of losing their home and limited income opportunities, their future remains uncertain. Despite these challenges, Meseret continues to use her skills and determination to care for her family.

Monthly sponsorship will provide Meseret’s family with holistic support such as food, housing, medical care, spiritual care, counselling, education, health and life skills training, income generation and business development opportunities. Being part of HFK’s Family Empowerment Program will also give this family an opportunity to participate in many of our youth, daycare, education, and community programs.
